Comprises 43 autograph manuscript or typescript letters, dated 10 February 1882-22 July 1901, chiefly from Henry George to Father Thomas Dawson, but also from his son, Henry George Junior, his wife, Annie C. George, his daughter, Jennie George, and a few others to Father Dawson, and between a few other correspondents, including Harold Rylett and Alexander Symington, together with typed transcripts of all the letters, a telegram dated 19 August 1890, and an illuminated print of a plea made by Henry George in a speech in San Francisco on 4 July 1877 for the formation of a league of nations to prevent further wars breaking out in the world. The print was made by Beatrice George Marti, the grand-daughter of Henry George, and Anna George de Mille of the Henry George Foundation of Great Britain, the writer of an undated manuscript letter to Alexander Symington, makes the statement that 'this utterance of the American economist-philosopher, is, as far as I can ascertain, the first plea for a league of nations'.
